House Rules of Tietgenkollegiet
Article 1
The residents are jointly responsible for maintaining good order at the halls of residence.
Every resident is obliged to comply with the guidelines provided in these house rules and the
student accommodation manual as well as any directions issued by the board or administration of the hall. The residents are responsible for ensuring that their guests also comply with these guidelines.
Article 2
The residents must in every respect show consideration for their fellow residents. In particular, appeals for quiet during studies and at night must always be respected. A noise complaint must be acted on immediately. Out of consideration for our neighbours near the halls of residence, windows must be kept closed at loud sound or noise levels. During the exam periods 1 May to 30 June and 1 December to 31 January, common rooms and common areas, including the assembly hall, may only be used for parties on Fridays or Saturdays. The assembly hall may always be used on New Year’s Eve, but not by individuals. The assembly hall may be used until 11 pm on weekdays, except during exam periods. The door of the assembly hall must be kept closed when the hall is in use. Guests may only be let in via the door phone.
Article 3
Every resident is obliged to help keep all rooms and outdoor areas for common use tidy.
Personal property (including, but not exclusively, mats, furniture, beer crates, bicycles, clothes horses and footwear) may not be left in corridors, on stairs and landings. The residents are obliged to comply with the administration’s requests in relation to fixtures and common facilities. Cars, bicycles and mopeds may only be parked/left in the assigned parking spaces established for this purpose.
Article 4
The fitted picture rail and accompanying hooks must be used to hang anything on the walls.
In other words, it is not allowed to drill holes in the walls. Similarly, nails, screws, thumbtacks
or the like may not be inserted in the walls, doors or door frames, and pictures, posters etc.
may not be hung using glue or adhesive tape. Antennas/satellite dishes may only be installed
as directed by the administration, and a cash deposit for refurbishment will be required. The
deposit amount is determined by the administration.
Article 5
Pets are not allowed. It is not allowed to feed birds at/from balconies, terraces and other areas at the halls of residence.
Article 6
The installations at the halls of residence may not be altered or interfered with.
Article 7
Nothing of any kind may be left or stored on balconies/terraces. The top cupboards in the flat
should be used for storage. Drying clothes or placing clothes horses on balconies and terraces is also not allowed. Window boxes and awnings may not be fitted.
Article 8
Fire Alarm and Fire Fighting System
The fire fighting equipment and fire alarm system may not be abused. Doors with automatic
springs may under no circumstances be blocked. The corridors in the halls of residence, which also serve as escape routes, may under no circumstances be blocked. Violation of this rule may be reported to the police.
Article 9
Every resident is liable for any damage caused to the building and/or fittings by the resident or the resident’s guests. The residents are collectively liable for damage to common rooms when the person who has caused the damage cannot be identified.
Article 10
Tietgenkollegiet's Computer Network incl. Intranet
In connection with the moving in, the resident signs a user declaration whose provisions
supersede the present rules. The halls of residence have entered into an agreement with an
external full service provider about the supply of, among other things, Internet connection.
Abuse of the Internet connection, including the intranet, according to the legislation in force at
any time will result in disconnection of the user’s Internet connection and reporting of the abuse to the police. In compliance with the legislation in force at any time, the full service provider monitors the halls of residence network and reports abuse to the administration. In the case of abuse, the full service provider is responsible for disconnecting the Internet connection and reporting the matter to the police, if appropriate.
Article 11
When moving in, the resident receives and signs for a student accommodation manual.
The content of the manual is also available on the intranet and the internal television channel
of the halls of residence. The residents are obliged to comply with the guidelines and the
maintenance rules indicated in the manual. The manual is updated regularly. The residents
are obliged to keep up-to-date with the content. In case of any dispute, it is always the latest
version of the manual which applies.
Article 12
Complaints
Residents’ complaints about violations of the house rules must, within eight days, be submitted in writing to the residents’ committee with a copy to the halls of residence manager and posted in the residents’ committee post box. The complaint must contain a description of time, location and circumstances. The committee must hear the parties to the case. If a complaint is found justified, the person complained about will receive a written warning from the board through the administration. Irrespective of this provision, all residents are obliged to comply with any requests from the administration concerning compliance with the house rules, and the administration may issue written warnings. The residents’ committee must be informed in writing if the administration issues warnings.
Article 13
Notice / Termination Provisions
A tenant may be given notice if the present house rules are disregarded. Three months’ notice is given. The tenancy will be terminated in case of serious or repeated violation of the house rules. Seven days’ notice is given. All decisions concerning notice/termination of tenancy agreements as a result of violations of the house rules are considered by the residents’ committee, which, through the administrator, submits a recommendation to the board on the appropriate action to be taken. The final decision on notice/termination of tenancy agreements is made by the board of the halls of residence. The board may assign its authority to the administrative head of the halls of residence.

These rules come into force on 20 August 2006. |
